everyday hero

An everyday hero. Bees have been much in the news of late, and for the saddest of reasons: due to habitat loss, global warming, pesticides, and monocrop agriculture, their numbers are in sharp decline across the United States. The loss of bees and other threatened pollinators could damage not only the world’s economy, but also endanger its very ecosystem, you can read more about them here. So is this actually a honey bee or a bumble bee?

This original 6"x6" oil painting on 1/8" gesso panel is available, unframed, for $100 in my Etsy shop here.

bee happy

These adorable little (5" square) framed watercolor bee paintings are available in my Etsy store. I created some of them for my shop at Building Character in downtown Lancaster and had so much fun making them that I thought I'd make more to put on Etsy. They make super cute valentine gifts. My niece ordered a set of five to hang in her twin's bedroom as inspiration for them to see every day. Each and every one is handmade and one-of-a-kind with its own quirky and random personality. Bee happy!

busy bee

This busy bee is for a painting challenge on Daily Paintworks. You can check out all the entries here. This one was challenging! I don't know about you, but I always go through a part of the painting process when I feel it will never, ever work and I should just give up. Then, without warning, it turns a corner, and it all comes together. SOLD!
