colorful morning

What a colorful morning it was, to wake up and paint this handsome rooster.

So each day, when I'm not working, or taking care of my family, or cooking dinner, or doing laundry, or painting, I try to spend some time learning. On the night before this painting I was listening to Mary Bentz Gilkerson's art & painting tips, and learned some new things that I kept in mind while painting this rooster. I think it helped me to make the colors bounce off each other, and to pay closer attention to my values. These are some free painting videos that she shares...and I'm thinking her course that starts in January might just be a great one! She has such a great way with color.

This original 6"x6" oil painting is available, unframed, for $95 here.

running buddy

I came across this beautiful guy on my trail run a few weeks ago, and he was kind enough to stop and pose for me ( I always bring my phone on my runs just in case I find something beautiful to photograph!) This is a larger painting, 12"x12".

Happy New Year! To start the year of right, I am doing Leslie Saeta's 30 day painting challenge, again. I am always aspiring to actually painting every single day. If nothing else, I am persistent! So here we go again, and I am excited! This colorful rooster is 6"x6", $75, unframed.
