Lazy days of summer. With your toes in the sand and your head in the clouds. Sometimes wouldn't it be great if time could stand still, even just for a moment?
This original 6"x6" oil painting on 1 ½" raised panel is available, unframed, here. No frame necessary, can be displayed as is. Sides are painted gold.

beach dreamin'
That amazing, calm, peaceful feeling of having the sun on your face and you toes in the sand. Not much in life better than that...

till next time
Last night I listened to a podcast from Mary Gilkerson, and one of the things I took away was to mix my colors in advance. This way the palette is more cohesive, and you can paint without stopping to mix colors all the time. I tried it this morning and really liked it. I felt like I was in more of a flow. I am always searching for more flow in my life! If you are an artist, too, and haven't followed Mary yet, I highly suggest it. Very knowledgable. I love learning! Hope you have a fabulous Wednesday! This 6" X 6" original oil painting is SOLD.

long boards
Wish I was there. But second best is getting to paint the view! This is from a photo that a friend took. It has a feel of an instagram photo, because it is. I love instagram and Facebook, if nothing else, because i get to discover great painting inspiration! Wishing you an amazing Friday!

on the lookout
Always on the lookout for a great day. I read a forbes article about the morning routines of 12 women leaders. Fun read. Guess if I want to keep painting in my morning routine I will need to get up a bit earlier to fit in yoga and a much healthier breakfast than I squeeze in now. Hope you have a wonderful day!
This painting is available for $75, unframed.

goodbye summer
There is still time to get in a last great day of reading on the beach. I always love Karin Jurick's beach paintings. Thought I would try one myself. She makes it look so easy! It's very difficult to keep it loose and free. This painting is available for $65, unframed. You can purchase it here.

no. 6
Perhaps it's all the shoulds that we carry around with us, everywhere we go, that are the problem. I should be doing this (other more important thing) right now instead of whatever I am actually doing. I know I am supposed to appreciate being "in the moment" instead of thinking about what I should be doing next. That's why I love painting, it's just a moment in time, although usually fleeting and brief, when I forget about all of my shoulds…
This painting is available for purchase. It is 6"x6" and painted on archival panel, $45, sold unframed. Link to purchase here.

no. 4
Last weekend we visited family in Belle Harbor, New York. It is a beautiful, tight-knit community of great people who have all weathered a lot of tragedy together (The crash of American Airlines, Hurricane Sandy, 9/11), which makes them stronger. But when you sit there on the beautiful beach it is so hard to imagine it being anything but peaceful and beautiful. This is the entrance of the beach on 132nd street, where we spent two beautiful days on the beach. Our family owns a great store, the Blue Bungalow, in nearby Rockaway Beach. Stop in if you get a chance!

breezy
So I feel like I am floundering a bit (weird word, floundering, is that correct?). I am not keeping up with my challenge of painting every day. I just can't. I did it two times before…but this time I feel as if I am just rushing. Not good. In my one hour of painting each day I try my best to learn something new, enjoy the process, not get discouraged…it's a lot to do in an hour and complete a painting. (Speaking of this, today's Unstuck blog article is all about this. Check it out here.) Anyway, here is one that I'm not loving, but posting it anyway. Sometimes paintings that are not my favorite are loved by someone else, which is always a nice surprise. Enough said. Hope your Tuesday is amazing! This painting is 6"x4", available for $50, unframed.

happy
Happy, lazy days at the beach. Wearing my favorite cover-up, my daughter Isabel is so happy just jumping in the waves. Life just seems so much easier at the beach. This painting is 6"x6", $65 unframed.
