plein air
I had a fun opportunity to paint outdoors (first time ever!) last Saturday with the very talented Kerry Sacco and some painters from Oil Painters of America (OPA). Her property is a perfect setting for Plein Air painting.
Here I am painting, I don't have all the fun outdoor painting supplies, so I just sat at a table with my supplies spread out. Whatever works, right?

autumn
How fun are these gourds!? I just created them for my booth at Building Character in downtown Lancaster, PA. I absolutely loved creating them, and each one is a one-of-a-kind. A piece of art. I would actually love to keep them all for myself, but I can always make more! The best thing about creating art is that it's an ever evolving journey, never, ever boring.
I also created some new cards, too, for building character.
You can follow our booth on Facebook at Eclectic Collective.
And please follow my artwork on Facebook at Kim myers smith art!
Thank you! Your support is so very appreciated!

lancaster blocks
Today I dropped off some of my new "Lancaster Blocks" at Building Character in downtown Lancaster at the Eclectic Collective Booth. I was inspired to create some small paintings of signs from around Lancaster, up close and personal. My first two were Stans Records and Here To Timbuktu. First I created the paintings and then created some fun wooden blocks (thanks for the wood blocks, Landon!), in the theme of children's blocks with letters that you could spell out words. Maybe HOME, LANCASTER, LOVE, the possibilities are endless. Go check them out at First Friday tomorrow night, if you get a chance. Let me know what you think!

building character
I have several of my paintings on display at Building Character in downtown Lancaster. It's an eclectic group of shops in cool old historic warehouses on the 300 Block of North Queen Street. I hope to make more fun things to sell there, maybe cards and magnets, and some prints of my artwork. If you live in Lancaster, stop by and let me know what you think.

nostalgia
This is a commissioned piece of a store in Lancaster, PA. I painted it several months ago and now had the pleasure of painting it again from a different angle. I just love where I live and enjoy painting inspiration from "home." Hope you like it!

Demuth Auction
The Demuth Auction took place last week. A fun and lively event for sure. One of my paintings sold, Stan's Records, and will hang at "the Manor" (previously Armstrong Manor) here in Lancaster, PA. The beautiful building is owned by Rodgers & Associates, financial planners and retirement specialists. If you have the good fortune to have them as your financial advisors, I hope when you are there, you stop to see my painting!

Sunflowers from Roots!
These beautiful sunflowers are from Roots Country Market here in Lancaster, PA. Only open on Tuesdays, it's a place I went often as a child. There is a very eclectic mix...of products for sale, stand holders and of patrons. Very entertaining, for sure! The black flowers are so beautiful, I love the subtle colors. SOLD

amazing cake!
I have been painting but I am working on two larger pieces so I have nothing to post for a few days. So I thought I'd post an amazing wedding cake created by my very dear friend Renee at Bella Manse. Her cakes look amazing and taste amazing, too! Such talent!

Siegrist's Mill Covered Bridge
This one is a special request from my cousin. It's of Siegrist's Mill Covered Bridge in Lancaster County which was washed away in September of 2011. So sad when such beautiful landmarks are victims of the weather...even when they are rebuilt they never have the same original charm. 6"x6", $100 unframed.
