solitude

Mornings are my time of solitude. And I love when something beautiful like this happens while I'm in the midst of running my daughter to the bus stop, packing her lunch, catching up on laundry...you get the picture. Even with a million things going on I still feel the magic of solitude, even though I am never, ever alone, really. But when I am painting somehow I feel peaceful solitude. A wonderful morning all the way around. Now it's time to get this day started!

great pear

Last night I had some time to paint. I worked on painting a rose and I just was so not happy with it. Not a bit. So after about an hour I just wiped the entire thing. Then decided I needed to change direction completely. Glad I did, this morning was so much better. With painting it's such a concrete example of perseverance, same with all of life, but you notice it more dramatically with art. One step forward, two steps back. It's all okay, it's a part of the process. So important not to get discouraged and keep forging ahead. I am reassured by this "great pear." This original 6"x6" oil painting is SOLD!

Abbey Ryan Workshop

I had the opportunity to attend an Abbey Ryan Workshop at Artists of Yardley on Saturday. It was fantastic! She was a terrific teacher. It was so inspiring to watch someone so talented create a painting from start to finish. Then we had some time to create our own painting from a still life set up which is something new for me...and I loved it. Hope to do more in the future. Thank you Abbey!
