nostalgia
Why is it that Christmas from long ago seems like it was so much more calm, sentimental and romantic than the crazy holidays we experience now? I would love for a place, like maybe Macys, to be back in time for the holiday. For the merchandise, decorations, salespeople to be right out of It's a Wonderful Life. In my mind, of course, it would all need to be black and white because, as a child, I thought there were no colors in life during the "olden days." It's fun trying to create the retro colors on these antique Christmas balls. This painting is available SOLD.

last of gary's apples
Yesterday started out like fall and ended like winter with a bit of snow…I feel like fall has gone by in the blink of an eye. This is one of the last of our apples from our neighbor Gary. He knows that I like him to keep the leaves on the apples when he picks them. This 6"x6" painting is available for $75 here. Have a great weekend!

oopsie daisy
I tried for loose and free for this one, inspired by Carol Marine's wonderful book Daily Painting. The book is chock full of wonderful instruction and ideas…super easy to read and understand. And it's inspiring! I am so glad that I became a daily painter (maybe not daily, but at least as much as I can!). I started watching all the "famous" daily painters years ago, Carol Marine, Leslie Saeta, Karin Jurick, Lisa Daria, Duane Keiser, Dreama Tolle Perry, just to name a few…and decided, even though I really didn't have any time for it, I needed to give it a shot and do my best to make it a priority. So I carved out an hour of my day from 6-7 am to paint. Only thing I really had to give up was sleep! So even if you don't think you have a minute to spare, it's well worth the effort to make time to learn and grow, no matter what you enjoy doing. This original piece is 6"x6", painted on archival board, sold unframed for $85 here. Happy painting!

orange sunset
This amazing sunset over Orange Street in downtown Lancaster is from a photo taken by my friend Kellie Pederson. This painting was both fun and challenging. What a beautiful city I live in! This painting is SOLD!

the old barn challenge
This is a challenge from Daily Paintworks. You can check out all of the submissions here. It's fun to paint something and then see what other artists do with the same subject. Art is amazing to me in that, just like people, no two are ever alike. This painting is available, 6"x6", unframed for $75, here.

feeling light
One of the best things about my artistic journey is my appreciation of seeing. Seeing beauty, light, colors…everywhere. I always noticed it but I definitely have a heightened awareness of it now. And I actually think others around me do now, too. What a wonderful benefit to be even more aware of beauty. Hope you have a beautiful, light and colorful day! This painting is 6"x6", and available for $75 here, unframed.
