It's been a bit challenging and pushing me out of my comfort zone, but I will say that it's all worth it because the effects are magical! thistle

I painted this beautiful thistle while filming myself live on Instagram stories. I really like the platform of IG stories but I'm very camera shy. A beautiful landscape where I yearn, with all of my heart, to sit down with a great book, or maybe sketchbook for an hour, or maybe a few, and just let time pass by without me needing to control every minute. Where I'm not quite sure what day of the week it is, or hour of the day. I don't think that exists in our world. But a girl can dream...

seeing for miles

Seeing for miles in American the beautiful on this election day. No matter what happens I am grateful for our freedom to vote. I am certainly grateful for being able to get up in the morning and do what I love. Paint. When I get discouraged with life I direct my attention to these things I am grateful for. My last morning to paint before my much needed vacation. This is a commissioned piece to be a gift for my friends' daughter to send to her host parents from her semester abroad in Denmark. A personal and thoughtful gift. Hope they love it! I don't paint landscapes very often but it was fun, and I think I captured the feel of what I imagine Denmark to be :)

I had a fun opportunity to paint outdoors (first time ever!) last Saturday with the very talented Kerry Sacco and some painters from Oil Painters of America (OPA). Her property is a perfect setting for Plein Air painting. Here I am painting, I don't have all the fun outdoor painting supplies, so I just sat at a table with my supplies spread out. Whatever works, right?

I've been working on this painting for the last few days, little by little. I love the colors, composition and subject. I was trying to focus on color and bold strokes. I feel a bit stuck. I'm not sure if my work is improving. Maybe I don't feel my usual inspiration to paint. Not that I'm not happy while I'm painting. I just feel stuck. Life is sticky sometimes…It usually helps to think about the ebb and flow of things being natural and not something to constantly fight. To go with the flow and have faith that everything is as it should be... This 6"x6" painting is available, unframed, for $75.

Old Ford is from a photo taken by a friend of mine. The photo itself was a piece of art so the painting was easy. Really easy. Since I have had a few days off from work I have been working on two paintings that are a bit larger than my norm. It feels good to change things up a bit, but I do feel that I need more than an hour at a time to work larger. It's a nice treat. This painting is SOLD.

One of the best things about my artistic journey is my appreciation of seeing. Seeing beauty, light, colors…everywhere. I always noticed it but I definitely have a heightened awareness of it now.
