Zinnias, original oil painting

According to Flower Meaning, the zinnia flower has several meanings including thoughts of friends, endurance, daily remembrance, goodness and lasting affection.
  • The Victorian meaning of zinnias is thoughts of an absent friend
  • Of the heart
  • Lasting affection
  • Daily remembrance
No wonder zinnias are so loved, their beauty isn’t just skin deep!
This original 6″x6″ oil painting on 1 1/2″ raised panel with sides painted gold is available for $130 here.

"comfort zone" original floral oil painting

Stepping out of my comfort zone. I always learn so much when I step out of my comfort zone, so why is it always to darn hard to do when it's usually a good thing? Often in the middle of a painting there a not-so-pretty stage (to be honest, it's often an ugly stage) where I think I should just quit, wipe it all off, start over, or never, ever paint again...and then, it turns a corner and it all comes together. It's so important to trust the process. Have faith that it will all be okay, and persevere...that's when the magic happens...right?

This original 8"x8" oil painting on ⅛" gesso panel is available, unframed, for $160 here.

thistle

I painted this beautiful thistle while filming myself live on Instagram stories. I really like the platform of IG stories but I'm very camera shy. I'm going to keep trying though ,and maybe I will get comfortable with it. It sure does look like fun! Go check out the video in my story on Instagram and let me know what you think!

zinnias

Zinnias. As an artist I see painting inspiration everywhere and anywhere. Yesterday I stopped at a coffee shop and these beautiful zinnias were on the counter. I'm guessing I am the only person that day who stopped and took a photo to paint the next morning. So much fun, and they are beautiful, right?

Reaching, original oil painting of purple tulips

Reaching…my thoughts were all about mood and capturing a calm energy in this painting. I was reaching for a feeling, a mood, just as these sweet flowers seem to be reaching for, too. Sweet and fun and warm and inviting...so much fun!

Can I ask you a question?

So I have a question because I am seriously considering not posting on blogger anymore. I'm not sure if it's worth the extra time and energy doing this in addition to managing my website, posting on DailyPaintworks, Etsy, especially with this not actually being my "real" job (yet). I know some people who have been on here for years have a great following, but I'm not sure it's the right space for me. Does anyone else agree? Disagree? I guess if I hear crickets I will have my answer :) Thanks for you opinion!

Stella De Oro Daylily

This was a painting that I thought was never going to put through. A total lost cause. A throw away. To be honest I even felt that way at the very last stroke. Now, with a new day and a fresh set of eyes, I think maybe I was wrong. It's really quite beautiful after all...art has a funny way of doing that sometimes...

Looks like Spring!

Crocus are a sure sign that spring is on it's way. Hurray! I find winter incredibly difficult to get through. I don't like the cold, or the darkness, not to mention it's so challenging to photograph my paintings when it's dark outside. It's best to photograph paintings in natural light. I feel thankful that having sunshine for my artwork is just around the corner...
