indigo blue
There is just about nothing more fun than a new tube of oil paint, and something I've never tried before...even better! I am painting my way through the rainbow and having a blast. As I transition from purples to blues I am planning to dig a little deeper and share more of what I am learning along the way. This new color, Indigo Hue, is vibrant and fun, but I need to get to know it a little more before I can say it's a friend or foe...but this blueberry painting was a fun place to start finding out...

trusting intuition
Trusting intuition. So very important, but why is so difficult to do? I think, above all else, trusting my intuition is one of the most important things that my painting practice teaches me. When I feel discouraged, and get fearful of a slump coming on, I slow down and listen. I change things up and stick with it instead of getting lost in the discouraging negative feelings. Then this happened...an effortless painting that felt like it almost painted itself. Note to self: let the discouraging feelings inspire something new and wonderful. Lesson learned. Or at least for today. It's a lesson I need to learn over an over again. Do you ever feel this way?

monday blues
I started off the week with the Monday blues, but not really. I'm never "blue" when I am painting (well, maybe my hands are, sometimes!). I watched a great show on OWN network last night and really love this video. Wishing you a week filled with gratitude!

no. 2
This year blueberries have been a passion of mine. To eat and to paint! I've painted them over and over and every time it's fun! Yesterday I painted blueberries to create a video of my painting process. I got so caught up in my painting that I forgot to check the camera…so it's probably going to be a very, very short video. Maybe I will try again another time…happy Friday! This painting is available for purchase for $65, unframed.

wine labels
I have been creating paintings for my friend Lori's wine book. Here are a few of the wine labels that I designed for her. I'll let you know when the book is published! I will be posting fewer paintings for the next couple of weeks because I have quite a few commissioned paintings that I am currently working on…very fun, but very busy right now with the Christmas deadline. How did the holidays sneak up on us so quickly this year?
