slowing down

I've been reading Thrive, by Adrianna Huffington. Loving it. Last night I was reading about slowing down, which I really, really, really need to do. I'm hoping she can tell me how to do it. She says "Learning the wisdom of slowing down, of truly living, is itself a journey." So that means I don't need to figure it out by tomorrow. But just like working out and eating right and getting enough sleep, you just wake up each day and try again. I can do that. I'm certainly not off to slow start today, but I'm not going to hurry through my day today. At least I'll try not to :) This original 6"x6" oil painting is available, unframed, for $85. Click to Bid

joy

Something I'd like to share on my blog is my learning process, in art and in life. Not sure if you will find it interesting, but I thought I'd give it a try since I often stop and wonder what I should learn next in my journey. Right now I need to find ways of learning and growing that don't take a lot of time, and don't take me away from home, since life is super busy with my business and my family. I graduated from college with a degree in Communication Design. I've had a love of art all my life and actually took oil painting classes as a kid, but hated that we had to be quiet in class. I gave up oil painting until 30 years later. In all of those in between years I've had an advertising & design business for 27 years, and I still absolutely love fonts, color, design and layout. One thing that has afforded me in my painting is that I am able to create and maintain my own website, which has been one of the fun things I've been learning more and more about. Gotta get to work now, but in future posts I will let you know more about my learning journey. Maybe you'll have some good ideas for me! Thanks! radiant

I am simply radiant to say that I've been chosen as a judge's pick this month in the Daily Paintworks contest. And a friend of mine, Tracy Male received the third place award. Her work is beautiful, you can check it out here. On another note, last night I was reading a blog about "a painting always starts from the inside," which really spoke to me.

Manifesting a painting is no different than manifesting any other experience in our lives. It starts on the inside.

You can read the blog post here. Happy, happy painting! This original 6"x6" oil painting is sold.

giddy

Not much time to paint this weekend. My daughter had a swim meet most of the weekend. All worth it, but missed being able to paint. This did happen during the wee hours of Sunday morning though. I am learning about transparent colors from a course by Dreama Tolle Perry. It absolutely adds a magical feel, don't you think?

thankful

This one was so easy and fun to paint. I did the same painting before and loved it that time, too. Maybe this would be a fun one to paint really large. I've been itching to paint some larger pieces. Definitely in the new year. Life is just too busy right now. It gets so overwhelming sometimes. But, of course, this past weekend made me thankful for all that I have. Very, very thankful. Hope you have a great start for your new week! This 6"x6" original oil painting is available for $85, unframed. Click to Bid

daisy too

This is a bit abstract for me. I started making a fun background and then painted the flower without changing the background. It's just fun. Happy. SOLD.
