goodbye summer

There is still time to get in a last great day of reading on the beach. I always love Karin Jurick's beach paintings. Thought I would try one myself. She makes it look so easy! It's very difficult to keep it loose and free. This painting is available for $65, unframed. You can purchase it here.

no. 5

I have such a difficult time thinking of what I would like to say in my blog. Finding the inspiration to paint is easy, super easy. Thinking about what to say about it is a chore. I don't want it to be a chore. I need to work on that…I need to work on so very many things…so last night I was at the gym for a much needed workout, which I rarely fit into my life, and my mind is running something like this…when I get home I would really like to paint, maybe watch a video to learn more about painting, I need to spend time with my daughter...so she could play with the cat and dance near me as I paint...I should also spend some of my evening reading at least 8-10 pages of a positive book…I need to stretch from my workout (not tops on my goal list), I also have work I need to think about…oh, also I should write down the three things I should be grateful today (I love when people do that!), and write a note to at least three friends to tell them I am thinking of them, not to mention laundry, and getting ready for tomorrow…and did I mention that when I am thinking about all of this it's 9:30 pm…life is so crazy busy and I really, really want to slow down and smell the black-eyed susans…I just don't know how to get there from here...

This painting is 6"x6" and is available for purchase, $65, unframed. Thanks!

no. 4

Last weekend we visited family in Belle Harbor, New York. It is a beautiful, tight-knit community of great people who have all weathered a lot of tragedy together (The crash of American Airlines, Hurricane Sandy, 9/11), which makes them stronger. But when you sit there on the beautiful beach it is so hard to imagine it being anything but peaceful and beautiful. This is the entrance of the beach on 132nd street, where we spent two beautiful days on the beach. Our family owns a great store, the Blue Bungalow,  in nearby Rockaway Beach. Stop in if you get a chance!

SOLD.

eva's zucchini relish

Last night we made zucchini relish. It is absolutely the best. It is nearly the end of zucchini season and we decided that we couldn't possibly make it through the year without it. So, in honor of my stepmother, Eva, my inspiration for all things domestic (she taught me what she could), here is her recipe, an old photo of Eva, and a pic of our relish...now it's time to design some cute labels. Hope you get a chance to make some, it's worth the effort because it really is amazing!

Summer is so wonderful. It's delicious. Always filled with hope, but goes by much too quickly. This painting is from my visit to Rehoboth Beach last week. It's 12"x12". $380 unframed. Enjoy your summer!
