Another year?

I am on the fence if I should continue posting in this blogspot space in 2018. I'm totally not sure if it's worth the time. I need to streamline what I do and where I focus my time. So, tell me, is anyone reading this?

finding joy

Joy and pink peonies are a perfect combination! I consider myself very fortunate to have something that I love to do that brings me so much joy. This is a demo painting from my first time teaching. I would love to add a teacher hat to the pile of hats I am comfortable wearing. It was really a fun experience. I painted this for the first hour and explained my process and answered questions and then she worked on a painting of her own. Oil painting is something that takes lots and lots an lots of practice and it's crucial not to let yourself get discouraged or impatient. I think those are the most important lessons that I learn every day as I paint.

I have been thinking about creating a painting workshop either in Lancaster or New Hope, PA. So if you are in the area and this is something you would be interested in, please drop me a note and I'll add you to a list to let you know the details as I plan an event. Peony, my early morning painting, and a great thought for all of my artist and freelancer friends from Seth Godin...a great way to start the day...

Freelancers (and artists) of all kinds need to be in a hurry. Not a hurry to give in to one-sided deals and lousy clients. Instead, we need to be in a hurry to share our bravest work, in a hurry to lean into the opportunity, in a hurry to make work that people would miss if it were gone.

I, for one, am always in a hurry, not because I want to be, but because I feel I need to be to keep my head above water. I do think I'm in  a hurry for the wrong reasons...I'd much rather be in a hurry to make work that people would miss if it were gone...

I so love my morning painting practice. For me to be able to do what I love goes a long way toward making me feel calm in the storm of life. I do my best to get up around 5 every day and paint before the day begins. As they say, success is mostly about showing up. I am truly blessed to be able to do what I love to start most of my days.
